Standard Triumph Clubs

The Stag Owners Club has close links with the other clubs representing the Triumph marque and its various models.   We often coordinate and plan joint events and participate in each others outings. Hereunder is an example with a report and a few photos from Stewart Braznell covering our participation at the Walton Hall Standard Triumph Picnic and Hog Roast which took place on Sunday 19th September 2021.

The mid week forecast for the annual Standard Triumph Picnic didn’t look promising and it’s usual May slot looked a better option. Even on the morning of this popular event it was a “top up or down” dilemma but as I set off early from Worcester a line of blue sky was spotted in the far West as the band of rain forecasted had moved through early.

The venue was excellent with the stunning Mercure Walton Hall hotel surrounded by landscaped grounds and lake which (luckily) were firm and flat for parking. The organisers had the various models of Triumph lined perpendicular towards the lake with the early Standards on their own green looking very majestic.

It was a slow start, perhaps the forecast had put people off, and mother nature did have one last attempt with a brief shower. But then the sun (via Worcester!) shone and it was a real treat to see the different models turn up along the long sweeping drive to the hotel.

Stags appeared, gradually, with Rupert the Cotswolds co-ordinator one of the first few and then many others with some beautiful examples of Stags from around the Midlands mainly but also some as far away as Liverpool and Surrey. Twenty two Stags formed a good line-up stretching from the hotel frontage to the lake. Looked fabulous – well done those who came!

There was a diverse range of classic cars to see and one caravan (a 70’s Sprite!) including a modified Bond Bug and a very rare Bond Equip prototype which was based on a Triumph Herald. This variety is what makes this event and that coupled with the excellent location and blue skies (the ice cream seller ran out by mid afternoon!) makes the Standard Triumph Picnic an enjoyable event for everyone.
