A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO SOCTFL

SOCTFL stands for the Stag Owners Club Tooling Fund  Limited.  As its name suggest it is a company limited by guarantee owned by all the members of the Stag Owners Club.

Established in the early 1990’s the aim of the company was, and still is,to encourage manufacturers to produce high quality parts that had become no longer available or were available as after market items often of inferior quality compared to the original specifications.

SOCTFL does not manufacture parts but rather works closely with manufactures by providing technical and financial support so that they are able to develop the tooling necessary to manufacture the parts to original specifications.

As you can imagine the cost of tooling where low volumes are concerned can be prohibitive. SOCTFL support is therefore often essential in ensuring that high quality parts remain available.

Once parts have been manufactured they are distributed through the normal parts suppliers. Supporting manufacturers in this way helps to ensure that parts are available at affordable and often discounted prices to club members.  Clearly a major benefit to club members that helps to keep more Stags on the road and away from the scrap yards.

SOCTFL is run by a committee made up of club members and representatives of manufacturers and parts suppliers who work together to bring a project from the drawing board to the market.  They meet regularly giving their time and expertise freely. Their support and expertise is invaluable to the success of SOCTFL and we thank them for their contribution to the company and the club.

Suggestions for projects come from many sources including members. parts suppliers and others. Each suggestion is carefully considered by the committee taking into account factors such as potential demand, cost of production, and likely final retail cost to consumers etc.  All factors that determine the viability.  If a suggestion is considered to be worthwhile then the committee will take it forward  by producing tooling designs, seeking interested manufacturers and distributor, agreeing contracts etc and bringing the product to market.

In the club members area of the club website members can access more detailed information about SOCTFL, including committee meeting minutes, recent articles and news updates. All of which we hope you find interesting and informative.
