E.J. Ward Motor Engineers was established in 1981 by father and son, Mick and John Ward. When the business started the Triumph Stag was only 11 years old. In the early days work mainly revolved around servicing, general mechanical repairs and the odd bit of body repair work. As the Triumph Stag reached maturity E.J. Wards evolved to meet the demands of todays classic car owner. The company always has several major body restorations and full engine rebuilds on the go, as well as carrying out all aspects of motor vehicle work, such as, general maintenance and servicing, Triumph Stag Sales, re-bushing, in house machining facilities, upholstery and retrimming, state of the art spray booth, and in more recent years has developed a Spare Parts Shop.
Robsport – Having grown up around Triumphs, it was inevitable that my passion would also be classic cars – and so despite failing the interview with my father, I (Simon) joined the business in the early 90s after completing my own apprenticeship in electronics. I’m still here all these years later, and am now running the company! We continue to operate as a family-run business – my wife and my mother complete the ‘behind the scenes’ admin and finance side of the business, my son Luke is our IT expert and developed our ordering systems and website, and my son Josh is the face of our online social media presence, has rebuilt his own Herald convertible and is often on site helping out and talking to customers.
