Drive Your Triumph Day 2022
On the 10th February 2022 Rye Livingstone’s global event to celebrate what would have been Sir John Black’s 127th birthday took place. Hereunder are some of those taken by club members to augment the 670+ of the event that may be found by following the link on the left.

SOC Countrywide Drive for Charity
Nick Rowland the SOC Coordinator for Manchester & North Cheshire Area got actively involved and organised SOC participation in the Countrywide Drive for Charity. With the event being delayed from 2020 the intention was still to ask members to take their cars out for a drive in the countryside on a specific day in October 2021 and in doing so raise money for donation, on behalf of the SOC membership, to the annual Children in Need appeal.

This introduction to the event is an abridged version of Tony Lapworth’s report which can be found in the September magazine:
“I have said this many times in the past, that our members make the club what it is; one of the best, if not THE BEST club ever. We had this spirit demonstrated brilliantly this weekend. I had lined up a few ‘volunteers’ for help on Thursday setup day and to a man/woman they all turned up and beavered away for hours getting four gazebos up, hiding the van (as we’re not supposed to have it on-site), erecting around 20 flags and marking out what seemed like 2 hectares of grass.
For the parade lap we managed about 342 Stags on the track, (to be confirmed), including the very last Stag produced kindly brought along for the weekend by the the British Motor Museum at Gaydon, the two 4×4 Stags, the Rally Stag and a good number of early cars too. What a sight and sound that was. Again, our marshals were absolute stars. Getting us all lined up was never going to be easy, in fact we had too many cars for the assembly area and some were left on the grassy area and shepherded in after room was made by cars going onto the track.
A fitting reward for the effort put in by all of our volunteers happened on Sunday morning when we were awarded the Silverstone Classic ‘Club of the Year’ cup. Well done everyone. Our marshals, our tea and coffee volunteers, the organising team, the setup brigade and the stand breakdown army. And of course a huge thank you to YOU, our members, for turning up and making this National Day such a success.”
