Triumph Stag Mk 2 For Sale
Pimento Red in colour, with black roof and interior. I have a Heritage Certificate for it and it was originally white, then Magenta and then red and I think it suits her. She still has her original 3.0 litre V8 engine and Borg Warner automatic gearbox (fully reconditioned). She comes with her original hardtop as well as a reconditioned soft top.
Registration number is OSF 141P and the current mileage is showing at just over 78,000. However, the previous owner advised that it’s much lower and only shows as this due to a speed change. The Mot history backs this up.
I’ve owned her for just over 3 years and have only done approximately 1,500 miles in that time. I have taken her to the Darling Buds of May Car show for the last two years and she received plenty of admiration. I had her serviced and MoT’d in October, despite her being Tax and MoT exempt. I had a new outrigger fitted for the MoT and am advised that she needs a new drivers side floor pan fairly soon, but looks pretty solid otherwise. She’s had replacement front wings before I bought her, so all good there. She could do with some work to the rear arches at some point, but there’s no rust showing and they’re presentable at present.
I’ve had her serviced professionally, by a local specialist throughout my ownership. I have also had the automatic gearbox fully stripped down and reconditioned, in addition to the differential and carburetors. I fitted a modern, electronic, fuel pump. She had new front brakes a year or so ago and has just had new rear brake pipes and a brake service. She’s got an electric fan and I haven’t had any overheating issues. Her tyres are good and the wheels are in excellent condition.
I fitted a modern cd player and speaker (in the original front mounting) but have the original radio. The front seats are a little tired and could do with new foam, although I find them quite comfy!
Overall, she’s a presentable, useable classic that would benefit from a bit of TLC as time goes on. She’s always been garaged and well looked after, in my ownership, with no expense spared and summer use only. I’ve recently moved house and have less time to use her.
I’ve got a few spare bits ad pieces along with a trolley for the hardtop and will include these if she sells for something very near to the asking price.

A nice tidy car.  Previous owner had extensive work carried out to bring it to top condition and we have the photos of all the renovation work taking place. We also have documents, servicing etc. going back most of its life.
Its 1972, mileage is 72,800. Its has a manual gearbox with J type overdrive. When we bought it, it was automatic so we converted it to manual.
There is also a hard top that has never been fitted.
Extras that go with it are the hard top, the automatic gear box and a weber conversion kit that has not been opened, although it runs fine with the standard carbs anyway.
Price £12,000

A low mileage (currently 44,000) low ownership Triumph Stag Mk1. First registered on 2nd June 1972.
Original purchase from Tannery Farm Garage, St Helens and family owned for 31 years selling it on at 25,000 miles to second owner in 2003 who I subsequently purchased it from in 2012.
With the exception of the new paint, it has not undergone a “full nut and bolt restoration” remaining completely original with all original parts, including the hardtop roof. To this day it still remains largely an original example.
In my ownership the Stag has undergone a process of continuous improvement/maintenance. I have added an additional 5,000 miles to the 40,000 that it had when I bought it and have toured the UK & continent including a 1600 mile continental trip to Switzerland.
Extensive history file and paperwork showing the originality of the Stag and most of the service history. Exempt from road tax and I have all MOT certificates for my ownership showing all passes with no advisories. Although it is now MOT exempt, I have continued with the annual MOT inspection test and this has was renewed in 2018, again without any issues.
The following is a brief description of the main areas of the Stag. Naturally viewing and inspection is highly recommended:-
Body work - Resprayed and ‘new’ paint is still in excellent condition. Two weld repairs, one to windscreen wiper mount and the other to a hole in floor on driver side due to a leaking windscreen.
Soft top – frame fully refurbished being stripped down, powder coated, straightened and new hood fitted.
Hardtop – I have not used this other than to transport it home with the Stag. It is completely original hanging up in the garage and is in extremely good condition, no rust or damage.
Engine/gearbox – both original. Other than new oil, the gearbox has not been worked on and functions as expected. The Triumph V8 engine has had new timing chains, new starter motor, new alternator, new water pump (external), new radiator, header tank fitted and a Kenlowe fan fitted. It has been flushed regularly and has regular oil changes.
Fuel– Original Stromberg carburettors have been stripped down and overhauled.
Ignition – Original Lucas distributor has been stripped and overhauled and electronic ignition module is now fitted in place of the twin points.
Breaks – Stainless braided hoses, new pads and overhauled
